Shillong Public Realm
A connected set of proposals for the Polo riverfront, Ward’s Lake and surrounding public spaces. The work combines landscape, movement, recreation and supporting buildings, with design development at both city and building scale.

Sports grounds and new public spaces share a continuous river edge.

The promenade combines planted edges, gathering spaces and routes between destinations.

The wider public-space network connects the lake to cafés, gardens and the riverfront.
Ward’s Lake Redevelopment
The proposals bring new facilities into the existing landscape through a series of focused interventions.
Ward’s Lake Experience Centre
A vertical marker rises above a low building integrated with the lakeside terrain.
Exhibition spaces
The experience centre develops a sequence of themed interiors and open public spaces.
Sports hostel
Accommodation and shared functions occupy a building with a clear public frontage and internal gathering spaces.
Polo Multi-Level Parking & SRGT Sports Tower
The Polo parking and sports studies combine infrastructure with a compact vertical programme.
Polo Hawkers’ Market
Trading space and everyday facilities complete the public-realm programme.
Governor’s Herbal Garden
Elevated paths, polyhouses, an amphitheatre and spaces for play and wellbeing are set among existing trees near Ward’s Lake.
Polo Sports Towers
The riverfront masterplan studies two vertical sports programmes: an SRGT tower and a second tower on the smaller Part F site. Courts, changing facilities and public uses are stacked to work within the available footprints.
